ENGLAND - RIPLEY CASTLE

Ripley Castle is situated near Harrogate in North Yorkshire and has been the home of the Ingilby family for over 660 years. At the centre of the building is the tower keep and this is the oldest part of the castle dating from around the 15th-16th-century, it is surrounded by an 18th-century dwelling house. There is also a separate gatehouse dating from the 15th-century, though accounts differ as to whether it dates from 1410 or the 1460s/70s. The castle is surrounded by gardens laid out in 18th-century style.

Ripley Castle and grounds are open to the public throughout the year and the castle is also one of the premier venues for wedding receptions and conferences in the area.
