ROYAL RESIDENCES - Balmoral Castle

Balmoral Castle is the Scottish home of the Royal Family and was purchased for Queen Victoria by Prince Albert in 1852.

Anne Gordon, dau of Alexander Gordon, 7th of Abergeldie bought Balmoral as her tochter on her marriage to William, 2nd of Inverey. The title of Balmoral was held by the family until 1798 when James, 11th of Inverey, 5th of Balmoral and 3rd of Auchindrine, sold Balmoral to the 2nd Earl Fife.
