ROYAL RESIDENCES - Palace of Holyroodhouse
The Palace of Holyroodhouse, situated at the end of the Royal Mile in Edinburgh is the Queen's official residence in Scotland. It was built in 1128 as a monastery and has a fascinating past. Mary, Queen of Scots lived here between 1561 and 1567 and married two of her husbands in the Abbey. She also witnessed the murder of her private secretary, David Rizzio, in her Outer Chamber.
