EDWARD II, of Carnarvon, King of England, born at Carnarvon 25 April, 1284; created Prince of Wales and Earl of Chester by charter, 7 February 1301, succeeded his father, Edward I, as King of England and Duke of Aquitaine, 8 July, 1307. Crowned 23 February 1308, deposed 7 January 1327, married at Boulogne, 28 January 1308, Isabella (died at Hertford Castle, 22 August 1358, buried at Grey Friars, London), daughter of Philip IV, King of France, and had issue,
1. EDWARD, afterwards King.
2. John, of Eltham, Earl of Cornwall, born 25 August 1316; died unmarried 14 Sept 1336.
1. Eleanor, born 1318, married 1332, Reynald II, Duke of Gueldres, and died 22 April 1355, leaving issue. He died 12 October 1343.
2. Joan, born 1321, married 17 July, 1328, David II, King of Scots, and died without issue 7 September 1362. He died 22 February 1371.
EDWARD II was murdered at Berkeley Castle, 21 September 1327 (buried at Gloucester Cathedral). He was succeeded by his elder son,
EDWARD III, King of England, born. at Windsor, 13 November 1312, succeeded his father, Edward II, as King of England, 7 January 1327, and as Duke of Aquitaine which he ceded to his son, Edward, 1362. Crowned 1 February 1328, married at York, 24 January 1329, Philippa (died Windsor Castle, 15 August 1369, buried at Westminster Abbey), daughter of William, III Count of Holland and Hainault, and had issue,

EDWARD, The Black Prince, Prince of Wales, 1343, Duke of Aquitaine by paternal cession, 1362, forfeited by the King of France, 1370, born at Woodstock, 15 June, 1330, married at Windsor, 10 October 1361, his cousin, JOAN, the Fair Maid of Kent (died 7 August 1385), widow of Thomas de Holand, Earl of Kent, and daughter of his great-uncle, Edmund, of Woodstock, Earl of Kent (see above), and died in the lifetime of his father at Westminster, 8 June 1376 (buried at Canterbury), having had issue, two sons,
1. Edward, of Angouleme, born 27 July, 1364; died 1372.
2. RICHARD II, afterwards King.

3. Lionel, of Antwerp, Duke of Clarence, born 29 November 1338, married 1stly, 9 Sept 1342, Elizabeth de Burgh, Countess of Ulster (died 1363), daughter and heiress of William, 3rd Earl of Ulster, and had issue, an only child,
Philippa, Countess of Ulster, Heiress Presumptive to Richard II, born 16 August 1355, married 1368, Edmund Mortimer, 3rd Earl of March (died 27 December 1381), and died 5 January 1377-8, having had issue, two sons and two daughters, of whom the elder son,
(1) Roger Mortimer, 4th Earl of March, Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, declared heir to the Crown 1387, born
l Sept 1373, married Eleanora, (who married 2ndly, Edward, Lord Cherleton de Powys, and died 23 October 1405), daughter of Thomas Holand, Earl of Kent, and was killed in battle, 20 July 1398, leaving issue,
la. Edmund, 5th Earl of March, Heir Presumptive of England, born 6 November 1391, married
Anne (died 20 Sept 1432), daughter of 5th Earl of Stafford, and died without issue 19 January 1424-5, a prisoner in the Castle of Trim.
2a. Roger, died without issue circa 1412.
la. Anne, born 27 December 1390, married as his 1st wife, circa May, 1406, Richard of Conisburgh, Earl of Cambridge, and died September 1411, leaving issue (see below). She was grandmother of EDWARD IV.
2a. Eleanor, born circa 1395, married circa 1408, Edward, Lord Courtenay and died without issue. He died in the lifetime of his father 1 May, 1418.
Lionel, of Antwerp, Duke of Clarence, married 2ndly, 28 May, 1368, Violante (died without issue circa 1404), daughter of Galeazzo Visconti, Lord of Milan, and died 17 October 1368.
4. John, of Gaunt, Duke of Lancaster, King of Castile and Leon, born 24 June, 1340, married 1stly, 19 May, 1359, Blanche (died 31 Sept 1369), 2nd daughter of Henry, 1st Duke of Lancaster (see issue of 2nd son of HENRY III), and had issue,
1. HENRY IV, afterwards King.
1. Philippa, born 31 March, 1360, married 11 February 1386, John I, King of Portugal, and died 9 June, 1415, leaving issue. He died 7 August 1433.
2. Elizabeth, born 1362, married 1stly, 24 June, 1380 (marriage annulled), John Hastings, Earl of Pembroke, and 2ndly, 1384, John Holand, Duke of Exeter, and had issue. He was beheaded 9 January 1399-1400. She married 3rdly, Sir John Cornwall, Lord Fanhope, and died 24 November 1425.
3. Sabel, died young.
John, of Gaunt, Duke of Lancaster married 2ndly, June 1371, Constance (died June 1394), eldest daughter of Peter I, King of Castile and Leon, and by her had issue, an only daughter,
3. Katharine, married 1393, Henry III, King of Castile and Leon, and died 2 June, 1418, leaving issue. He died 25 December 1406.
John, of Gaunt, Duke of Lancaster married 3rdly, 13 January 1396-7, Katharine, formerly his mistress (died 10 May 1403), widow of Sir Hugh Swynford, Kt, and daughter and co-heir of Sir Payn Roet, Kt, of Hainault, Guienne King-of-Arms, and died 3 February 1398-9, having by her had issue, surnamed BEAUFORT, born in adultery, who were legitimated by Statute 20 Rec. II (1397), but were not thereby enabled to inherit the Crown. The eldest son of this union was,

Thomas, Duke of Clarence, 2nd son of HENRY IV, and died circa 30 December 1439), 3rd daughter of Thomas Holand, 2nd Earl of Kent, eldest surviving son and heir of Joan, The Fair Maid of Kent (see issue of 6th son of EDWARD I), and died 16 March, 1410, leaving issue, with two daughters,
(1) Henry, 2nd Earl of Somerset, born 25 November 1400; died unmarried 25 November 1418.
(2) John, Duke of Somerset and Earl of Kendal, 3rd Earl of Somerset, born 25 March, 1404, married 1439, Margaret (who married 3rdly, Leo, 6th Baron Welles, KG, KB, father of John, 1st Viscount Welles, KG, who married Cecily, 3rd daughter of EDWARD IV (see below), and died 8 August 1482), widow of Sir Oliver St. John, Kt. (see BOLINGBROKE, V.), and only daughter and eventual heir of John Beauchamp, Baron Beauchamp of Bletso, and died 27 May, 1444, leaving issue, an only daughter,
Margaret, born April, 1441, married 1stly, 1455, Edmund Tudor, 1st Earl of Richmond (died 1 November 1456) eldest son of Owen Tudor, by his wife Katherine, Princess of France, widow of King Henry V, and had issue, an only son,
HENRY TUDOR, Earl of Richmond, afterwards King.
She married 2ndly, circa 1459, Henry Stafford (died without issue. 1481), 3rd son of Humphrey, 1st Duke of Buckingham; and 3rdly, 1482-3, and his 2nd wife, Thomas Stanley, 1st Earl of Derby, KG (died 29 July,1504), and died 5 July, 1509, without having had further issue.
(3) Thomas, Earl of Perche, born 1405; died unmarried 1432.
(4) Edmund, 1st Marquess of Dorest, 1st Duke of Somerset, 4th Earl of Somerset, Count of Mortain in
Normandy, Regent of France; born. 1406, married Eleanor (died 12 March, 1467), widow of Thomas, 9th Baron de Ros, and 2nd daughter of Richard Beauchamp, 2nd Earl of Warwick and Albermarl, by his 1st wife Elizabeth, daughter and heir of Thomas, Baron Berkeley, and was killed in Battle at St. Albans, fighting for KING HENRY, 22 May, 1455, leaving issue.
5. Edmund, of Langley, 1st Duke of York, born. 5 June, 1341, married 1stly, March, 1371-2, Isabel (died November1392), youngest daughter of Peter I, King of Castile and Leon, and had issue,

Edward, 2nd Duke of York and Duke of Albermarl, born.1373, married 1396, Philippa (d.s.p. 17 July, 1431, widow of Walter, 4th Lord FitzWalter, and of Sir John Golafre, and daughter and co-heir of John de Mohun, 2nd Lord Mohun of Dunster, and was killed at Agincourt, 25 October 1415, without issue
2. Richard, of Conisburgh, Earl of Cambridge, born 1375, married 1stly, Anne Mortimer (died Sept 1411), daughter of Roger, 4th Earl of March (see above), and had issue, a son and a daughter,
Richard, 3rd Duke of York, Protector of England, Regent of France, became lawful heir by descent to the Crown of England on the death of his uncle, Edmund Mortimer, Earl of March and Ulster, 19 January 1424-5, born 21 Sept 1411, married before 18 October 1424, Cecily (died a Nun, 31 May, 1495), yougest daughter of Ralph Nevill, 1st Earl of Westmorland, and was killed in battle at Wakefield, 31 December 1460, leaving issue, besides three sons who died young,

EDWARD, Earl of Warwick, the LAST MALE DESCENDANT OF THE PLANTAGENETS, born 21 February 1475; beheaded 24 November 1499, unmarried
MARGARET, Countess of Salisbury, the LAST OF THE PLANTAGENETS, beatified by Pope Leo XIII, 29 December 1886, born 14 August 1473, married 22 Sept 1494, Sir Richard Pole, KG (died November 1504), and was beheaded 27 May, 1541, having had issue.
4a. RICHARD III, afterwards King.
1a. Anne, born. 10 August 1439, married 1stly, 30 July, 1447 (marriage annulled 1472), Henry Holland, Duke of Exeter and had issue. He died 1473. She married 2ndly, 1472, Sir Thomas St. Leger, and died 14 January 1475-6, having had further issue. He was beheaded November 1483.
2a. Elizabeth, born. 22 April, 1444, married October 1460, John De La Pole, 2nd Duke of Suffolk (died 1491), and died circa 1503, leaving issue
3a. Margaret, born 3 May 1446, married 9 July 1468, as his 3rd wife, Charles the
Bold, Duke of Burgundy and died without issue 16 April, 1503. He died 5 January 1476-7.
4a. Ursula, died young.
Isabel, born 1409, married circa 1430, Henry Bourchier, 5th Earl of Essex, KG, and died 2 October 1484, leaving issue. He died 4 April, 1483.
Richard, of Conisburgh, Earl of Cambridge married 2ndly between 1411 and 1415, Maud (died 26 August 1446), daughter of Thomas, Lord de Clifford, and was beheaded, 5 August 1415.
1. Constance, married 1386, Thomas Le Despencer, 1st Earl of Gloucester, and died 28 November 1416, leaving issue. He was beheaded, 17 January 1399-1400.
Edmund, of Langley, 1st Duke of York married 2ndly, 4 November 1393, Joan, 2nd daughter of Thomas Holand, Earl of Kent, and died 1 August 1402. She married 2ndly, March, 1406, Willlam, 5th Lord Willoughby de Eresby (died 30 November 1410); and married 3rdly, December 1410, Henry, 1st Lord Scrope of Masham (died without issue 3 June, 1415), and 4thly, circa 14 August 1416, Henry Bromflete, 1st and last Lord Vescy (died 6 January 1467-8), and died without issue 12 April, 1434.
6. Thomas, of Woodstock, 1st Duke of Gloucester, born 7 January 1355-6, married after 1374, Eleanor (died a nun, 2 October 1399), daughter and co-heir of Humphrey de Bohun, Earl of Hereford, and was murdered at Calais, 8 September 1397, having had issue,
1. Humphrey, Duke of Gloucester, born circa 1382; died unmarried 1399.
1. Anne, born Apri1 1383, married 1stly, 1390, Thomas, 3rd Earl of Stafford, who died without issue 4 July 1392; 2ndly, 1398, his brother, Edmund, 5th Earl of Stafford, KG, and had issue. He was killed in battle at Shrewsbury, 21 July 1403. She married 3rdly, circa1408, William Bouchier, Earl of Eu, and died 16 October 1438, leaving issue. He died 28 January 1420.
2. Joan, died unmarried 16 August 1400.
3. Isabel, a nun, died unmarried April, 1402.
4. Philippa, died young.
1. Isabel, born 1332, married 27 July, 1365, Ingelram de Couci, 1st Earl of Bedford, KG, and died 1382, leaving issue. He died 8 February 1396-7.
2. Joan, born 1335; died 2 September 1348.
3. Blanche, born 1342; died an infant.
4. Mary, born 10 October 1344, married 1361 as his 1st wife, John V, de Montford, Duke of Brittany and Earl of Richmond, and died without issue 1362. He died 1 November 1399.
5. Margaret, born 20 July 1346, married 1359, John Hastings, 2nd Earl of Pembroke, and died without issue autumn 1361. He died 16 April 1375.
EDWARD III died . at Shene (now Richmond), 22 June 1377 (buried . at Westminster Abbey), and was succeeded by his grandson, as
