Windsor), and was succeeded by his

of the Faith, Emperor of India, 20 Jan.1936, succeeded as Duke of Cornwall and Duke of Rothesay etc, on his fathers
accession 6 May 1910, created Prince of
Wales and Earl of Chester 2 June 1910, succeeded
his father as King of Gt. Britain, and Emperor of India etc 20 Jan. 1936. His
Majesty renounced the throne for himself and his descendants by instrument
dated 10 Dec.1936, which was confirmed by the Declaration of Abdication Act,
passed on the following day. He was
created by Patent, dated 8 March, 1937, DUKE OF WINDSOR in the Peerage of the
United Kingdom. He married 3 June 1937
(Bessie) Wallis Warfield (died at Paris
24 April 1986), formerly wife of Ernest Aldrich Simpson, and previously of
Capt. Earl Winfield Spencer, Jr., and only child of Teackle Wallis Warfield, of
Balitmore, Maryland, USA. He died without issue at Paris 28 May 1972, and was succeeded by his brother,
